Millionaires don't have astrologers, billionaires do.

~John Pierpoint Morgan

Astrology is not mere superstition but contains some psychological facts (like theosophy) which are of considerable importance. Astrology has actually nothing to do with the stars but is the 5000-year-old psychology of antiquity and the Middle Ages.

We did make Roberta's second album around an astrological theme because she wanted to and because we know the Americans are crazy about astrology.

Learn Basics of Astrology

Astrology is a vast subject which requires attention on many aspects and combinations.  Practically an astrologer has to keep in mind all the following aspects before giving predictions and it is if not impossible yet difficult to remember/recollect all the combination at one point of time.

For analyzing a house according to Indian Astrology and giving any prediction one should consider carefully the following factors :

1. House strength, aspects, conjunction and location of lord of the house.

2. Rashi present in house.

3. The natural qualities of the house and rashi, location and strength of rashi lord.

4. Yoga

5. Planets posited in that house, their relation with house lord and rashi lord.

6. The exaltations and debilitations of the rashi lord and planets.

7. The Nakshatra or Constellation in which Planets are at the time of birth.

8. The age, position, status and sex of the subject.

9. The degree of Planets.

10. Combination of Planets if present in Birth Chart.

11. When the Dasha or period of a house lord or rashi lord comes.

12. Position of Planets in Navansha.

13. Position of Planets in Moon Chart.

14. Position of Planets in other Chart (Charts according to Degrees).

Indian and Western Astrology

The most easily referred to difference between the two lies in the method of measurement of the Zodiac. Vedic astrology uses primarily the sidereal zodiac (in which stars are considered to be the fixed background against which the motion of the planets is measured), whereas most Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac (the motion of the planets is measured against the position of the Sun on the Spring equinox). Of course, the ancient rishis were aware of the tropical, season-based cycles of northern and southern declination paths of the Sun and used them also when appropriate. But in the popular mind, the main difference between the two systems is that Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac and Western astrology uses the tropical. The most obvious effect of the sidereal/tropical difference is that about 80% of planets in a Western chart will move to the previous sign in a sidereal reading of the same chart.

Both Jyotish and Western traditions have existed for millennia. Vedic astrology includes several nuanced sub-systems of interpretation and prediction incorporating unique sacralized elements not found elsewhere, such as its specific system of lunar mansions (called nakshatras, encompassing a pantheon of archetypal deities). The nakshatras are used to pick auspicious times of day or month for every human activity as well as to provide insight into the motivations and guiding characteristics of humans and events coming under their influence. Nakshatra cycles, or dashas, are developing a reputation in contemporary culture for the accuracy with which they time events.

A further unique concept in jyotish (Indian Astrology) not seen in Western astrology is the concept of Dashas - a mathematical analyses that breaks down human or the subject's lifetime into various sub-periods based on the location of Moon at birth. Predictions in jyotish incorporate various elements around the birth chart - influences of transits (similar to Western Astrology though more focused on houses or bhavas) as well as Dashas.

We believe and follow the Indian Astrology approach and would teach you the same. Once you go through the contents on this website all you need to have is your Birth Chart (Kundli) and you can be your own astrologer. We also provide you service by making your free Birth Chart (Kundli), using which you can predict analyse and also solve your prolems.

What is a House?

The circle of the zodiac is divided into 12 divisions called houses. Each house does not necessarily extend to 300 - it is either less or more. According to the Vedic astrology, ascendant is the mid point of the first house and mid heaven is the mid point of the tenth house. A house starts approximately 150 before the mid point and extends about 150 beyond the mid point. The point at which the first house ends and next house starts is called "Bhava Sandhi" and the house extends from first Sandhi to the next. However, the whole sign does not fall in one house. A house normally extends over two signs. Each planet, depending upon its degree, falls in one sign and one house. The house as visible in the Lagna chart is not the planet's actual house position.

House division

For any date, time and place, there are some stars rising in the eastern origin and some stars setting in the western horizon. This is because of the earth's rotation around its axis. The eastern horizon is called the first house, whereas the western horizon is the 7th house. The point above the head of the person is called the mid heaven or the 10th house. In Indian system of house division the rising point, the setting point and the mid heaven point are considered the center of the 1st house, 7th house and 10th house respectively, whereas in the western system these are considered the starting points of the houses.

Remedy

Remedy is normally required for a planet which is active by virtue of dasha or transit, but is benefic and weak, or is malefic and strong. That is, it is not either able to give good results to its full capacity, or is giving bad results, which have to be checked. If that planet is sitting in a earthy sign in the natal horoscope, stone should be suggested, if in fire sign, yajna should be performed, if in airy sign, Mantras are useful and if in watery sign, alms or throwing things in water helps.

Normally, stone wearing enhances power of a planet and throwing items in water reduces power of a planet – whether the planet is good or bad. So if a planet is malefic but strong, then stone should be avoided and if a planet is benefic but weak then stone should be worn and its items should not be thrown or given in alms. Mantras and Yajna increase the benefic power of the planet only, without creating any loss. So whenever a planet is active, its Mantra jap and yajna should be performed for better results.
